Potato Salad at PANCAKE HOUSE 28 July 2008

Last Saturday, Sidney and I went to PANCAKE HOUSE for their mango crepe, so that I can compare it to the one I had at Heaven N’ Eggs. Since we were already there, and since he was already hungry, he had the roast beef plate and iced tea while I had potato salad and mango crepe. Unfortunately, since I wasn’t planning on writing about the meal in my blog, I didn’t take pictures.
The roast beef plate was composed of roast beef (of course) and gravy, buttered corn and carrots, steamed rice, and a salad. The iced tea was obviously made from a ready mix (probably Nestea), and the salad dressing was too salty. But the roast beef was tender and the corn and carrots were really buttery, which I liked.
As previously mentioned, I had their mango crepe with ice cream (as opposed to mango crepe with whipped cream). It cost around Php140.00 I think and tasted pretty good, although it didn’t have enough mangoes. It had a drizzle of chocolate syrup, which was okay, although I’m not much of a chocolate-lover myself and would have preferred the sweet cream sauce of Heaven N’ Eggs.
I just have to say that their potato salad was probably the best I’ve tasted. I’ve had potato salad from Max’s Fried Chicken, Kenny Rogers Roasters and Stefano’s (at the Foodpark in The Enterprise Center) before, but theirs is the best, especially with lots of white pepper, as Sid pointed out. Unlike the other potato salads I’ve had, Pancake House’s didn’t have a lot of potato bits or cubes – the texture was a bit more like mashed potatoes and was very, very tasty. At only Php55.00, it was definitely a great deal for potato lovers like me. I had to share it with my boyfriend though, because although he never liked potato salad before, he liked this one. That just goes to show how good it was.
In case you’re interested, here are the contact details of the branch we visited (which I got from the Internet, so I’m not sure of the accuracy): Pancake House, 2/F Robinsons Metro East, Marcos Highway, Pasig City, Philippines, telephone number (632) 645-9782.
